Reporting Absence
Telephone: (905)529-1002 Fax:(905)522-0787
Attendance at school is compulsory as stated in the Education Act. It is the parents' responsibility to see that their child attends school and is punctual. Parents are to contact the school:
- to report the absence of their child each day of their absence.
- to send a note to the school when their child returns after an absence.
Regular and punctual attendance contributes greatly to a student's success at school. If your child is to be absent, we request that you phone the school to give the following information:
- Child's name and spelling of surname.
- Teacher's name and grade.
- Reason for the absence and duration of the absence.
Please call the school answering machine to report your child's absence. It is on at all times to record your message. In cases where no phone call or note has been received, the school will try to contact the parents of the absent students (either at home or work) as soon as possible. On days when bus transportation is cancelled, parents of bus children need not phone in the absence.
Lunch Procedures
- There should be no students in the hallways. Students are not to visit other classrooms during the lunch hour.
- Students must not leave the school grounds for any reason, at any time during the noon hour without written permission from parents/guardians. A letter of permission must be dated and signed by the parent/guardian of the student leaving school grounds.
- Students must clean up their eating area and leave the room tidy.
- Students are required to sit down while eating and observe the rules of courtesy and good manners.
- Students will be dismissed from the lunchroom as a group at a set time.
- Students are expected to treat the lunchroom Supervisors with the same respect and courtesy as the rest of the school staff.
Repeated misbehaviour will result in an alternate location for your child to eat his/her lunch, a phone call home or a suspension.
Early Departure
If you are picking up your child during school hours, please come by the office and we will have your child dismissed to you. If you are sending someone to pick up your child/ren, please inform the office of this intent, and have the person come to the office. If you are picking your child up after school, please wait outside the appropriate school door until your child arrives to you.
For safety reasons, parents should not wait outside their child’s class or loiter in the hallways.
